West Carleton Outdoor Hockey League

On Saturday Dec. 3, between 9a.m. and 12pm., We are holding registration for the Kinburn outdoor ice hockey team(s), for players 5-17 years of age, who are interested in playing in the West Carleton outdoor ice hockey league. The registration will be held in the rink end of the Kinburn Community Centre. The price of registration is $60.00 for the first family member, $50.00 for a second family member, and all subsequent family members are free. Please note we define family members as nuclear family, in other words siblings. Cousins, and close friends do not fit this definition. Step siblings, and half siblings do.

The season consists of Saturday games at one of the West Carleton community rinks, and a practice one night through the week.

The goal of our volunteers is threefold: expose children who might not otherwise play hockey to the game, allow players who play the more competitive indoor game to try different aspects of the game(ie. Positions, types of plays etc.) and just allow the players to have fun playing the game.

It is recognized that players who play indoors will have to give that team preference when there is a scheduling conflict.

The season goes from late Dec/ early January, until the first week of March.

We have a much higher ratio of girls that play the outdoor game, but also find the great amount of skating, and long shifts, appeal to the boys competitive nature.

Scores are kept for the individual games, but there is no playoff, or declared champion. The outdoor conditions expose the players to manageable hardships.(ie. Playing in cold conditions but, if need be, going inside between shifts.)

Everyone is welcome no matter what level their skills are.
