The Kinburn Indoor Walking Group is looking for a new volunteer(s) to help out running the group. The group walks in the Kinburn Community Centre every Tuesdays from 10:30am-11:30am at no cost to all residents. The requirements are as follows:
  • Recently CPR/AED trained (within the last 6 months) - Please let me know as soon as possible if you require CPR/AED training as there is one in February for ONLY OPH volunteers.
  • First Aid training in the last 3 years is desirable
  • Understanding of the basic physical activity knowledge (i.e., warm up, cool down)
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Able to maintain current volunteer training offered by OPH
After interest is confirmed:
  • To successfully register as a volunteer with Ottawa Public Health (OPH)
  • Baby Friendly Initiative training
  • Ensure a safe walking environment
  • Ensure all participants sign in and binder is stored in a safe place after session
  • Warm up/Cool down
  • Open/lock hall (will arrange with other supporting volunteers)
  • Keep the environment light and fun!
Volunteers can/will:
  • Contribute to the quality of life of residents
  • Work as a member of dedicated teams
  • Give back to the community
  • Add experience and knowledge
  • Increase knowledge and skills through our free training courses
  • Meet new friends
  • Stay active and healthy!
Ottawa Public Health volunteer department is going through a revision of our Volunteer Handbook that includes other details. I will be able to share it with those interest soon after it is completed. In the meantime, our current volunteers and I will certainly provide support to ease the new recruits.
